Unless you’ve been living under a rock this last month, you have no doubt seen @HamRadioK8FAE come across your YouTube Feed. We first met at the Solar Eclipse of 2024. She and her boyfriend Matt, AE4MQ came out to my friend Ryan KF8IV’s house in the beautiful Hill County in Texas. We met up again in December of last year for a mutual friends wedding. After many a libation, we started talking about ham radio and she was so confident we made a bet that she would get her ham radio license in 1 week. 2 days later she texted me saying she passed her tech. The next day, I get another text saying she passed her general. The following Monday she tells me she just passed her Extra. She also wanted to start a YouTube channel and start doing POTA and that is exactly what she did and she’s kicking ass! This past weekend was her first Hamcation and boy did she have a great time. Since Caitlin lives south of my dad, we decided to do a POTA after Hamcation. We met up at Lake June In Winter Scrub State Park in Lake Placid, FL and this is what happened.
