I have been using the Radioddity GS-5B hand-held ham radio in the field for several months. Recently I was using it on a Summits on the Air activation with my wife and a friend, and I noticed that their radios seemed to receive other stations better than the GS-5B. This led me to pay closer attention to the receive capabilities of this radio, compared to others. I experimented with different antennas and compared it to different radios. Here is what I learned.
