Mike, W6YDE, bought a Hy-Gain SPT-500 vertical and is having some problems. No matter how far out the antenna is stretched, it never performs well enough to use on any frequencies. Mike is thinking about putting a capacitance hat on top and asks Dave for his thoughts.

Craig, KQ4SID, has the ARRL EFHW kit as well as an old Yaesu FT-840 and a couple of extra pieces picked up at various meetings. He struggles with turing 10-17 meters but has excellent luck on 20 and 40 meters. What does Dave say about this situation?
