Radio waves are (mostly) either vertical or horizontally polarised – although we can also have circular polarisation too. What impact does this have on the transmission and reception of radio signals? Callum.

There’s a UK streamer from 29.100 every 10kHz and upwards (for instance 29.110, 29.120, 29.130 etc. Click through the band between 29.100 and 29.200. Remember to TX on FM "narrow" so that’s 10kHz else you may interfer with the next channel. Most of the guys "up a hill" so there’s plenty of opportunity to find someone. I’m at the factory. I have three antennas I can select. Mostly the new 5/8 vertical (.. the SWR is way off.. But that’s prototypes for you!). Callum.

We’ll start on 40m then cruise up to 10m band and see what we can get!

This is my new prototype, just arrived from the factory. Inbuilt choke and a 2kW matching section. Will also do 10m too. Branded the DX Commander "DX Master" (probably!). This 10m event will be Saturday 20th April at 12:00 UTC.

13:00 Local (12:00 UTC), Saturday 20th April for 2-hours. The UK Crew are running a Mega-Stream called "10 on 10". Get out in your car or fire up your Antron 99 / Imax 2000 or GainMaster and find us. Our frequencies will all be on Station Master and on our screens so you will be able to find at least one of us. DX is welcome, see if yoiu can hear us. Have fun and see you later! Callum.

In this video we look at how radio signals propagate, whether that be line of sight, reflection, defraction and refraction through the Ionosphere. We discuss the difference between HF (shortwave) and VHF / UHF. We also discuss Sporadic E and how that can also affect some HF signals and VHF signals mostly in the summer months.
This video is part of the Foundation Series and is suitable for Foundation Students for Ham Radio as well as anyone else interested in how radio signals propagate.
Callum.

I am about to install a Multi-Band loop which will be resonant on 40m, 20m, 15m and 10m. It needs a 4:1 balun – but other than this balun, this is cheap to build and is well within the possibilities of many small ham radio stations. It will give me some TX *and* RX gain on the higher bands and it will also be a lovely TX / RX antenna during the day for NVIS 40m.

Check Chapter Markers in Description for all topics covered in this video.. but this is all my tips which are worth watching for any antenna builder since we cover everything necessary including joining wire, radial numbers, tuning etc. Callum.
