Antenna Beast! Roly and John explain how they have phased a PAIR of DX Commander antennas based on a spacing of 7.8m and some phase lines and relays. This is a superb piece of engineering design and math! Good work boys! Callum.
* Note* : This is Proof of concept, still in development & testing and is not ready for the market yet.

John was first licensed as a Technician in 2016, Gendron quickly advanced to the General- and Amateur Extra-class licenses. At the same time, he helped revitalize the Amateur Radio Emergency Service® (ARES®) in his area, as well as the York County Amateur Radio Society (YCARS) in Rock Hill, South Carolina. Gendron’s story about reinvigorating YCARS is featured in the "Club Station" column in the September 2022 issue of QST . He also has a YouTube channel, "From the Hamshack," is an avid DX chaser, and can often be found activating parks for Parks on the Air (POTA).

Roly is a retired Broadcast Engineer and avid Pacific DXpedition leader. In his working life, Roly was tasked with keeping all the AM (and VFH) stations running throughout the many of the islands dotted around the Pacific. He often used his "downtime" to fire up on the Ham Bands. His stories are legendary!

I know, you might have worked the world on 5W. But I prefer some power behing my signal on SSB – particularly 40m. I find it so much fun, ramming Japan and some new far-away stations in my 40m logbook!

Bit of fun here, Matt M0LMK let Isabella use his radio to SMASH the pile up last night. This should make you smile.. Suggest you ask Matt for a recording of your callsign in Isabella’s voice! Should work easy!

How much power will break your Coax, Connectors, Elements and Baluns? Roly ZL1BQD, John, NJ4Z and myself discuss. G’luck! Callum.

The USA has a 1,500W limit and UK has a 1,000W limit. In the UK, that’s at the feedpoint which means with (for instance) 3dB loss in the coax, you could be pumping out 2kW and still stay inside your terms and conditions. However, it’s not just about power. Can you HEAR stations too? Perhaps more complex. More on this subject coming up soon.

Today, Ofcom announced the 1000W limit for UK Full ticket holders – so why not! Whether you like it or not, it’s the "law".
