The Best HF Antenna When You Can't Put Up An Antenna | Alpha Antenna MagLoop

I never liked MagLoop antennas. Until now. This is the Alpha Antenna Portable MagLoop and it is SO much different than other MagLoops I’ve tried out. First and foremost, you can do 100 Watts SSB, 50 Watts CW, & 25 Digital. Most every other loop I know of can only do about 30 watts max. It’s made in the USA in MO, is extremely light weight, built of carbon fiber infused 3D printed material, Times Microwave LMR400 and even has a built in tripod for easy portable setup on a table or you can mount it on either a 1/4 20 tripod or a 5/8" tripod mount. I really wanted to make this video for those who can’t put up an HF antenna at their home, so I shot it in my living room. The dang thing actually works inside my house! It’s crazy!

It was so frickin’ cold in Texas on Saturday. The one day we all got together to POTA. Friday, 85 and sunny. Sunday, 85 and sunny. Saturday, ~50’s, windy, overcast, miserable. We almost died. But that didn’t stop us from getting on the air and activating. Though we didn’t stay out as long as we would have liked, we all had a great time and got the park activated and that’s all that matters. And that’s not the worst part. Out of all the places one can operate at Huntsville State Park, they had to pick the one spot I use. How dare them! But they have a cool group called The Houston POTA Group. They get together several times throughout the year to do POTA with each other. Kinda weird for me cuz I’m always alone but it’s fun to get out with your buddies to new parks and activate. Thought this would be a cool video to show others what kinds of things people are doing to get out and portable.
