Thanks to Gigaparts for sending the NEW ICOM 7300MK2 out on loan so we can see what’s new with this updated radio! It’s a MK2 so basically just an update to the already awesome Icom 7300. We now have USB-C (Finally!!), RX antenna ports, LAN for remote operation, CW Decoding, and HDMI video output. I think it’s supposed to have a better receiver to the tune of ~12dB but don’t hold me to that. This is an unboxing and first look at the menus to see what’s new/changed.

Is it Paracord or Antenna Wire? Yes. Yes it is. This is called RSE Line. A new invention from Ben, VE6SFX. It’s paracord in every way, but it has a center that constructed from carbon-based nickel coated conductive fibers identical to what is used in aerospace EMI shielding and high-frequency composite structures. I bought 100′ of this to play with but thought I’d start small by making a 2 meter dipole just to see if it worked. Well, it does and this stuff is cool!

In my video titled "The Most Dangerous Thing A Ham Can Do" I asked for suggestions and ideas for bags that had a little pouch on the side to hold the mast so I could take my QMX portable. A large amount of viewers suggested to get a sewing machine and learn to sew. While that’s most likely never going to happen for me, Lisa, KC1YL, took it upon herself to make exactly what I was looking for and I love it.
