Combining my love of hiking and ham radio, I join my friend Malen VE6VID to hike to the top of O’Leary peak. I set up the ham radio on top and used it to make contact with friends using Morse code.

I hiked to the top of Black Mountain near Wickenburg, Arizona. I brought along some borrowed gear to test on this Summits on the Air activation. This was my 3rd time using the Penntek TR-35 Transceiver and BeeTenna VHF Antenna. Both are excellent products that made this activation a success.
Summits on on Air combines hiking mountaintops with operating ham radios. I prefer to use Morse code when communicating with other stations, but you could use voice.
