Despite the looming rain and the tower interference, Sandy W7NRS and I hiked to the top of Quarry Mountain for Summits on the Air. It seemed that the weather, band conditions, and commercial tower interference were all working against us, but we still eked out the necessary contacts to get our points.
I was trying a new waterproof backpack from Mier Sports but didn’t get to put it to the test – the rain missed us. https://www.miersports.com/products/waterproof-roll-top-dry-backpack?variant=39842553102470

The Begali Magnetic Traveler Light Morse code key is manufactured in Italy by the Begali family. This is top tier paddle created with the best parts and craft in the business. I barrowed this key from my friend rather than purchasing my own – thanks to Kyle AA0Z. For this paddle and all the others in the series, I took it in the field multiple times and put it under rigorous testing. Here are my thoughts about its performance.

Our YouTube fiends from the UK join us for this episode. Chris M0RSF and Fraser MM0EFI both have really interesting YouTube channels, hosting ham radio / SOTA / portable ops videos from the UK perspective. This should be a really interesting discussion as we explore the differences and similarities of portable radio between the US and UK.

I noticed Mike K8MRD was using this 3D Printed Accessory Box at Hamvention. I asked where he got it and he did me one better. He gave me one in the spot! Thanks Mike!

Begali paddles usually come without the need to adjust them. In my case the contact spacing was a little wide and the throw or tension was too strong for my taste. Here’s how I adjusted mine.

Thanks to Pete G0PNM I have a lighted sign for the shack and a dust cover for the Begali Sculpture. I put a splitter in so I can switch back and forth between the bug and paddles.
