I met Vince VE6LK and Thomas K4SWL at Hamvention this year. They graciously allowed me to tag along on a couple of “Parks on the Air” activations. Admittedly, I am still relatively new to POTA and I learned a bunch from Vince, Thomas and Eric on this activation.
This was the last day of Hamvention with my flight leaving later that day. So, we were a bit pressed for time. I had some struggles but the experienced POTA activators saved the day.

I drove to Ham Radio Outlet today to pick up something and stumbled upon a very interesting Morse code bug that uses an optical interpreter instead of mechanical contacts. This paddle is no longer produced but this one is on sale for consignment at the Phoenix HRO.

I stopped by the Arrow Antennas space at Hamvention 2023 and talked with Tim Chapman KB7MDF about their VHF/UHF portable antenna called the 52-1BP. This is a 6m dipole antenna for Summits on the Air with optional element sets for other bands.

The CRP Amateur Radio Club International hosts an annual event in May in conjunction with Hamvention. On Friday evening of FDIM they host a night where home brew ham radios and accessories are entered into a contest for judging. There are also some who just bring their projects to show everybody, but they do not enter the contest. Here is a short clip of FDIM Homebrew Contest and Show and Tell night.
