Marc W4MPS was in town from North Carolina. He asked if I’d like to meet up and I thought it would be nice to work the ham radio with him from Lost Dutchman State Park for a Parks on the Air activation. We only worked Morse code for this activation and Marc is an excellent operator. The longer video version of this activation will be out soon, so check the regular videos and look for the Parks on the Air playlist on my channel.

I hiked to the top of three summits on this day, set up my ham radio station and operated with Morse code. This is the 3rd summit, A-1 Mountain. I actually only used voice (not Morse code) on this last summit. Derek W7DLZ joined me for this to make the 3rd summit a joint activation. Derek is a a great person and a new friend.

I lost my VHF/UHF antenna while operating ham radio on a mountain top. Subsequently I searched for a replacement and found a good candidate. Losing gear while doing SOTA (Summits On The Air) is a common occurrence, and I wanted to find a reliable antenna that will withstand the rugged terrain of the mountains.

After using this CW Key with my ham radio, in the field, it became apparent that I needed to remove the tone from the keyer itself. Havin both audio lines running can get tiring. Here’s how to safetly and easily remove the audio tone from the MX-K2 keyer.
