The doublet antenna has great ears, is easy to make and works on the lowest band you cut it for and all those bands above it. It requires a tuner, but don’t let that scare you.

This looks like a pretty amazing rig. I’m very very interested in what this radio will eventually turn out to be. Linux in a Shack in a box? USB-C? Portable Digital Modes… Just leave it running while driving around town with some Ham Sticks?
