SWR, or standing wave ratio, is important but not the definitive measure. Knowing the SWR of antennas is helpful. An SWR meter is needed in the radio, outside the radio, on the tuner, and at the antenna base. Anything under 2:1 is fantastic.

Last week we started to look at the DSW-II-20 Radio. I’ve been carrying this around for a few years wanting to take a look at it and here we are… finally. We were able to verify side tone, but not really see any power output from the radio. The question is: Does it work fine and we just don’t know how to use it… or does it need massive repairs.

As always, success isn’t guaranteed, but progress is.
