Can you design functional 3D prints without knowing CAD? In this video, I use AI, simple measurements, physical prototypes, and a 3D printer to create a custom frame insert for a ham radio go box. The finished design mounts the radio, battery, power switch, buck/boost charging controller, USB ports, and Anderson Powerpole connections inside a rugged ammo can.

This is not a polished “one prompt and done” magic trick. It is the real design process: describe the part, generate a model, print it, test the fit, identify what went wrong, and revise it until the pieces work together. Along the way, I show how ordinary language, careful measurements, and repeated prototypes can make custom 3D printing accessible even when traditional CAD feels out of reach.
The go box is not wired or powered on in this video, and that is intentional. This project is about designing useful, dimensionally accurate 3D-printed parts, learning from failed prototypes, and proving that beginners can build real solutions one revision at a time.
