What signals are hiding around you? In this video, I test the SeeSii ZA-048 log-periodic dipole array antenna, a compact directional LPDA designed for wideband RF reception from 400 MHz to 8 GHz. I connect it to a spectrum analyzer, scan the nearby RF environment, and demonstrate how rotating a directional antenna can help identify where stronger signals are coming from.

The ZA-048 is intended for spectrum scanning, interference hunting, basic radio direction finding, and locating nearby RF sources such as wireless devices, transmitters, access points, and other electronic equipment. Its nominal impedance is 50 ohms, and the kit includes the printed LPDA antenna, a lightweight tripod, and an adjustable holder compatible with several TinySA models. In addition to a quick overview, I discuss realistic applications, limitations, and what you can actually learn by exploring the near field with an inexpensive directional antenna.
