Combining my love of hiking and ham radio, I join my friend Malen VE6VID to hike to the top of O’Leary peak. I set up the ham radio on top and used it to make contact with friends using Morse code.

We hear from Allen Le Vie KH7AL in this episode. He shares stories about adventures outdoors while operating ham radio. He grew up western Washington State and retired from the Air Force in 2020 after nearly 23 years on active duty. He loves operating mountaintop portable while participating in Summits On The Air (SOTA). As of March 2024 he has over 135 activations. all of which are unique. He has a YouTube channel where he promotes portable QRP operating. Many of his activations are in the state of Montana.
He also serves as the SOTA Association Manager for the Hawai’i Islands, KH6 association.
