Sunset Crater Volcano National Monument
Well, I guess I need to figure out how to start livestreaming from the hilltops so here we go with the first attempt. I am not sure what direction I will go with these. I’ll practice a little and then settle on my own style for future hilltop livestreams. First note to self . . . spot yourself BEFORE going live. Second note to self . . . start the livestream in landscape. No going back on either one of these once the stream starts. I had a tripod, but started the livestream in portrait and so couldn’t use it. Ooops! More to come! I’ll eventually theme and brand my style, whatever that ends up being.

Harquahala Mountain is notoriously steep and requires a good off-road vehicle to make it to the top. I hopped in the jeep with Alex K7AEM for this SOTA activation. Alex frequently goes on long extended off road trips and has a lot of 4×4 experience. Since I was with Alex, I asked him to talk a little about off-roading tips. Then I answered a question that quite a number of viewers have asked – "How do you get so many contacts and what are the most common SOTA frequencies used by activators". This was a fun one. Enjoy!

I invite a newly licensed technician class operator to join me for a Summits on the Air activation. We discuss some of the basic ideas and concepts needed to get on the radio for the first time. We also discuss a few of the basics for activating a SOTA peak. Then we put it all in to practice and activate a summit.
