This Returned RT95 Was Already Unlocked… So Why Send It Back?
This Retevis RT95 was an Amazon return that I tested for resale, and during the QA process I found that it had already been unlocked. In this video, I go through the radio and also show how to unlock the RT95 from the radio’s hidden test mode.
The Retevis RT95 is also sold under similar names like the Ailunce HS4 and Anytone AT-778UV, so this unlock process may apply to those radios as well. This is RT95 return evaluation number 22 in my ongoing series of checking returned radios to see whether they are actually broken, need repair, or are ready to go back on the air.
If you are trying to unlock a Retevis RT95, change the frequency mode, test a used RT95, or understand what to check before buying a returned ham radio, this video walks through the process on the bench.

This is not a polished “one prompt and done” magic trick. It is the real design process: describe the part, generate a model, print it, test the fit, identify what went wrong, and revise it until the pieces work together. Along the way, I show how ordinary language, careful measurements, and repeated prototypes can make custom 3D printing accessible even when traditional CAD feels out of reach.
The go box is not wired or powered on in this video, and that is intentional. This project is about designing useful, dimensionally accurate 3D-printed parts, learning from failed prototypes, and proving that beginners can build real solutions one revision at a time.
