Boondock Edge and Boondock Tango can turn almost any radio audio source into an offline AI transcription system. Connect an HT, HF radio, scanner, receiver, or other audio source, and the system can listen, transcribe, archive, and organize radio traffic locally without relying on an internet connection. In this video I walk through the Boondock setup, including the Tango audio interface, the Edge dashboard, and local transcription using AI models running on your own hardware. I also show how the system handles real radio traffic and how the workflow changes when you are completely off-grid. If your local hardware is not powerful enough for the transcription quality or speed you want, Boondock also offers a cloud option through portal.boondockecho.com. Super affordable and Flexible Rates
This setup is interesting because it is not tied to one specific radio. If you can get audio out of it, you can feed it into the system. Whether you are monitoring amateur radio, public safety, airband, GMRS, HF, or scanner traffic, Boondock Edge gives you a way to turn live radio audio into searchable text, recordings, alerts, and a persistent archive.
Steps To Install:
1. Plug in Tango or Echo to Your Machine via USB
2. Install OS
3. Connect to Network (if not done already)
4. Download Install Script: wget https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Boondock-Echo/Boondock-Edge-Dashboard/main/install.sh
5. Run Installer: sudo bash install.sh, choose defaults… or not. Add in username/password
6. Visit website: https://hostname:4000
7. login with your user/password you setup before
8. Click the Gear in the top toolbar
9. Click System and setup Wifi, enter the IP of the device you’re on – remember this?
10. Recorders – refresh, if it doesn’t show up, disco/reco
11. Click Auto-Configure (possible firmware update)
12. Feed an audio source (your HT, your HF, your PC, broadcastify, your scanner, etc)
13. visit boondock.local
14. click recorder
15. set your audio level at just above the noise floor (the gray), click save settings
16. make some noise and watch the magic happen

Welcome back to the shack! In this episode of the Retevis RT95 Amazon Return Repair series, we’re on RT95 #24, and after the last radio actually had a bad programming cable, I was curious to see whether this one had a real problem too.
This returned Retevis RT95 / RT95 mobile ham radio arrived missing a couple of accessories, including the power cord and programming cable, but the radio itself looked clean. So the question became: was this actually broken, or was it another Amazon return that worked just fine?
If you’re looking at a used or returned Retevis RT95, Anytone AT-778UV style dual band mobile radio, or similar compact 25 watt VHF/UHF mobile rig, this video shows a simple real-world checklist you can use before trusting it on the air.
I also talk about replacing missing accessories, testing with a dummy load and watt meter, and why a radio showing an error may not always mean something is actually wrong.
