Swapping the FlashForge Creator 5 from 0.4 mm nozzles to 0.25 mm nozzles made a much bigger difference than I expected. In this video I replace all four nozzles, reload the filament, and compare real 3D prints so you can see what changes when moving to a smaller nozzle. If you’re wondering whether a 0.25 mm nozzle is worth it for fine detail, small text, logos, badges, or multicolor 3D printing, this comparison shows the practical difference instead of just talking about layer lines and theory.

The Creator 5 is already built for detailed multi-tool printing, but the smaller nozzle really shines on tiny features and lettering that can get lost with a standard 0.4 mm nozzle. I’ll show the results, talk through the tradeoffs, and help answer the bigger question: should you switch from a 0.4 mm nozzle to a 0.25 mm nozzle for detailed 3D prints? The answer, at least for these prints, was good enough to earn the toughest certification in the shop: wife approved.

So much to see at Huntsville Hamfest. Let’s walk through the vendor section and see all the cool stuff. This is just a quick walk through to give you a taste of how cool the show is. Even though it’s "quick", it’s still 35 minutes long! You can and will spend hours and hours looking over everything, talking to people, asking questions, spending money you shouldn’t…or maybe you should??? It’s so much fun, and the whole thing has great AC! If you’ve never been, I highly recommend putting Huntsville Hamfest on your bucket list. The show itself is growing every year, but what goes on the week before at Monte Sano is getting HUGE! We had 2 full days of activities (Wednesday & Thursday) on the mountain, then on Friday we have our big cookout. What started out as a small POTA get together 6 years ago is now a massive cookout. We had well over 200 people in attendance this year, and somehow it all went incredibly smoothly. Kyle, @AA0Z and all the volunteers did an incredible job.

The power might get cut – depends if we get by lightning or not…
When it comes to shortened HF antennas, coil diameter can make a big difference. A larger coil can provide greater inductance per turn, allow wider spacing between turns, reduce some losses, and potentially improve power handling. In this video, I compare a 2-inch diameter coil to a much smaller 5/8-inch coil to see why bigger coils can offer advantages—and when a smaller, more compact coil might still be the better choice for your antenna.

I recently met author Tom Bridge, whose first novel One Last Chance is being published by Pegasus today (at time of launching this video). As I’m also in the process of writing my own first novel, it seemed far too good an opportunity not to sit down and compare notes.
This turned into a completely unscripted conversation about what actually happens when you write fiction: inventing characters, building believable backstories, fixing plot “logic bombs”, researching real places and history, choosing titles, approaching publishers – and that slightly strange moment when your characters begin to feel like real people.
Tom talks about the process behind One Last Chance, his experience finding a publisher and what happens between finishing a manuscript and seeing an actual book appear. I also talk about my own experience writing a novel – including becoming rather more emotionally involved with my imaginary people than I ever expected!
Neither of us claims to be an expert. We’re simply two first-time authors comparing experiences – and discovering that quite a few of them were remarkably similar.
If you’ve ever had a story rattling around in your head and wondered whether you could actually turn it into a book, you may enjoy this.
