TinyFilter 2 Meter Band Pass Filter by K6STR & N6ARA

Designed by K6STR and sold by N6ARA, the TinyFilter is a small 10 watt 2 meter band pass filter created out of necessity. Mike, K6STR was doing some 2 meter SOTA activations and was getting his signal squashed by adjacent non ham signals (how dare they!). So Mike & Ara teamed up to bring us the TinyFilter. It’s a really easy DIY kit that should honestly take maybe 15 minutes to build. Most of it is just soldering on either BNC or SMA connectors to the pre-tuned PCB. In this Homebrew Workbench Roundtable, Adam K6ARK, Tobias KK7BCO, and I dig into QRP antenna tuners and workbench projects. We cover L-match and T-match concepts, Adam’s K6ARK QRP Antenna Matching Unit, and the G0FUW HB-ATU based on the classic Heathkit HFT-9 circuit. Tobias built two scratch versions plus a kit. I just got my parts together.

On the antenna side, Tobias is working on a trapped vertical for 15, 17, and 20 meters, I added 60 meter legs to my linked dipole, and Adam built an aftermarket battery bank for the Yaesu FT-3DR and some tiny QRP bandpass filters.

N1MM Voice Keying: Let Your PC Do the Talking

In this video I’ll show you exactly how I set up voice keying in N1MM so the computer handles the repetitive contest exchanges for me.

We’ll cover:

• Recording your own WAV files
• Where to store them inside the N1MM folder structure
• Setting up the function key macros (F1, F2, F3, etc.)
• Using concatenated WAV files to eliminate audio clicks between messages
• Sharing operator-specific callsigns and messages
