We recently discovered that when using a CAT6 or CAT8 based cable extension to increase the length of the Kenwood TH-D750 microphone cable you will hear an audible clicking on the transmission.
The reason seems to be that pin 5 and 6 of the cable should be together and properly shielded from the others.

Welcome back to the shack! In this episode of the Retevis RT95 Amazon Return Repair series, we’re on RT95 #24, and after the last radio actually had a bad programming cable, I was curious to see whether this one had a real problem too.
This returned Retevis RT95 / RT95 mobile ham radio arrived missing a couple of accessories, including the power cord and programming cable, but the radio itself looked clean. So the question became: was this actually broken, or was it another Amazon return that worked just fine?
If you’re looking at a used or returned Retevis RT95, Anytone AT-778UV style dual band mobile radio, or similar compact 25 watt VHF/UHF mobile rig, this video shows a simple real-world checklist you can use before trusting it on the air.
I also talk about replacing missing accessories, testing with a dummy load and watt meter, and why a radio showing an error may not always mean something is actually wrong.
