Any spectrum analzyers has a few basic functions:
* Set the FREQUENCY of interest
* Set the boundaries or SPAN you want to see to the left or right of your desired frequency
* Set the REFERENCE level that you want to visualize frequencies against
* Set the RBW or Resolution Bandwidth for how many inspection points there are instead of the SPAN you’re looking at.

n August, I set out with 3 friends from the SAR team to spend 4 days in the hills, building and refreshing our mountain skills and visiting some amazing summits. Afternoon thundershowers limited us to only two summits, but they were fantastic.
First on the list was Thunderbolt Peak at 14,003′. It has an incredible summit with a technical summit block. The next day, we summited Picture Puzzle Peak, a first for me, and a SOTA summit which had never seen an activation.
The team was great, the trip was awesome, and I can’t wait to be back in the mountains.

Joh, KL7CY, uses handhelds and other antennas and is aware of the dangers of radiation from antennas but he has heard that the safe distance to keep a handheld radio is more than a ft. Is this accurate? If so, how is he suppose to use the radio from that distance?
