My friend Malen VE6VID was visiting Arizona from Canada this week. I was able to join him on one of his Summits on the Air excursions. I drove back into the Hickey Mountain area, near Jerome, Arizona. We hiked the summit and got on our ham radios.

This is quite interesting. Let’s compare small quarter waves right up to 1-3/4 wave antennas including the famous 5/8. Why are large verticals sometimes not as good. And why they are sometimes better? You might like this. Callum.
