The respite of a peaceful night on a desert summit was a much needed break from a hectic work week. To sweeten the deal, I knew "Radio Runner", Chris (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCOHCTGeSGqt1r76DvVJH_ww) would be on a summit, and propagation conditions were looking good for a potential Summit-to-Summit contact. -The dream of completely wireless connection between radio and computer is a reality with Firmware 1.20 on the ICOM IC-705. I know have a few of my computers setup to connect to my 705 on my home wifi AND in access point mode for fully portable control of the ham radio for running digital modes like JS8Call, WSJT-X and Winlink.
NOTE: There is a firmware version 1.24 out now, the same access point controls works on both 1.20 and 1.24 https://www.icomjapan.com/support/firmware_driver/3256/
