50% of all patreons goes to supporting youths in ham radio with free tests, equipment and learning!
Today, we combine a couple of hobbies into one. The great outdoors and ham radio. We venture into the woods and to the lake to find some spots that we can answer the age old question… Will it antenna? That, combined with a great QSO we got to eavesdrop on between a seven year old and a ham at Arecibo, it is hard to imagine a better way to play radio… then we added a POTA activation on top!

Go easy on me – this is NOT a serious attempt at making a Ham Radio Antenna! This was just a thought experiment test for "Will It Antenna" night on Monday Night Ham Radio.
My Amazon Store:
https://www.amazon.com/shop/sevenfortyone
In this video I taka a landscape Rake and make a antenna and then test it to see if I can make contacts.

What happens if you tack-weld together 45 empty beer cans and set it up as a 20m quarter wave ground-mounted vertical antenna? Today we find out.
In the spirit of #WillItAntenna night for #MNHR, I committed to the hard work of emptying 45 cans of craft beer over a couple of weeks to provide the necessary material required for this antenna. It was a tough job, but somebody had to do it. I may be a few pounds heavier and slower going up mountains, but it was all worth it for the DX Brewmander.
But will it actually work? Watch and find out.

Amazon gives me a few pennies on the dollar for each sale made through that link which helps support my building and experimenting.
