After putting the DX Engineering stainless steel whips to the test , I came away impressed. Today I’m soldering up a batch of TOADs DI and TOADs DI8 digital interface boards. The black PCBs are DI8s for Xiegu radios, and the purple PCBs are the standard DI boards. I walk through the soldering process, install the headers, inspect the work, and show how these little boards go from bare kit parts to ready-to-use radio interface tools for digital modes like FT8 on your Xiegu G90, G106 and X5105.

This is also a service I offer. If you want a DI or DI8 but don’t want to solder it yourself, I can assemble it, test it, prove it works, and check that it fits the 3D printed case before it ships. In this video I test the finished boards with a Xiegu G90, make FT8 contacts, and verify the whole setup works from solder joint to radio contact.

Station 3 is alive! I’ve built a dedicated 700-watt 10m ham radio station for DXFest, our DX Commander Open Day – complete with the SY3 beam, rotator control and QSO Director logging.
For the first time, we’ll have three stations available simultaneously: Tim operating on 20m (Station 1), and Station 3 running the club call M0XXT on 10 metres – and on Station 2, we’ll have GB1NHS (probably 40m)
It’s all coming together – despite the 35°C heat and some extremely questionable purple lighting!
