I was just spinning the dial on my ham radio this morning and stumbled onto the ham radio station at the American Radio Relay League (ARRL). They use the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) issued call sign W1AW. I can communicate back to them because I have an FCC call sign too – NJ7V. The form of communication, or "mode" can vary. Here, we were using Morse code to communicate.

Connect 2 lengths of wire to the base and clip on the connector. Search the Internet for “Dipole Calculator” to figure out the length of wire for the band your using. Raise the center up as high as possible and stretch the 2 wires out.

A few months ago I was building the ZZRX 40 Receiver, live on TikTok. Then I got too busy to finish it. Now I don’t really use that platform anymore, so let’s resume the live build sessions on YouTube!

A very affordable Morse code paddle for portable operations, the QU-21C / QU-2020A key is small and light. For this paddle and all the others in the series, I took it in the field multiple times and put it under rigorous testing. Here are my thoughts about its performance.

In this video, I take the ATU-100 antenna tuner on a portable ham radio adventure to a mountain summit (Summits on the Air), testing its performance in the field. As an essential piece of equipment for any ham radio operator, the ATU-100 is designed to match the impedance of the antenna to the radio, ensuring maximum power transfer and reducing interference. Throughout the video, I showcase the versatility and convenience of the ATU-100 as I use it to tune my antenna on the fly, allowing me to communicate with other ham radio enthusiasts from the summit. Join me on this exciting outdoor excursion as I put the ATU-100 to the test and demonstrate its capabilities in real-world conditions. Location is Apache Butte W7A/MN-095 on 4 March 2023

I have a friend, I’ll call him Tuje (pronounced Tooge). He has decades of experience in commercial VHF/UHF radio communications. He wants to share his knowledge, but he also wants to remain anonymous. I offered to host his videos on my channel. So here is another video in an ongoing series of helpful videos, primarily relating to VHF communications, but certainly not limited to that topic.
