Common Mode Current can really mess with RFI and cause interference in the shack. In addition, you could also be receiving unwanted interference on the coax outer shield.
In this video I show how I built myself an easy CMC choke using a toroid and RG-58 coax.

My first round of ALE was a complicated setup with little payoff. Round two, using ION2G makes this much easier to get up and running. https://www.ion2g.app/
If you want to try ION2G you can request a BETA license through the first link on their site! Or pay $20.00 for the license which will send you the license automatically.
Steps to make this work:
1. Generally you need a newer radio, like an IC-7300 and a multiband antenna matched to your radio (no tuners).
2.Download ION2G: https://www.ion2g.app/
3. Request a BETA license or purchase a license to support the development effort
NOTE: Buying a license send an automatic license to email
4. Run the application, load the license and code plug (frequency list)
5. Setup your callsign, audio in/out and setup the radio connection
6. Turn on ALE sounding to send your callSet ALC for output audio
7. Set "ALE Self Address" to your callsign for each ALE network you are on.
