Bill K0WHW joined me for this VERY EARLY activation of Lone Mountain Summits on the Air. This was the first day of summer bonus points, and the first time I was able to meet Bill.
Bill brought is LAB599 TX-500 along and I got an opportunity to operate with it a little. But honestly, VHF contacts stole the show on this activation. We both had our points in 1-2 minutes on VHF.

Summits on the Air, or commonly known as SOTA is a points based award scheme and fun activity for radio amateurs that encourages portable operation in mountainous areas. However SOTA is not just for mountaineers! There are awards for activators (those who ascend to the summits) and chasers (who either operate from home, a local hilltop or are even Activators on other summits).
