Let us understand what happens if you have a hill or mountain in the way of your radio signal because I recently published a video showing you what happens if you have a slope going towards the target! This is the other way around. We can calculate the angle between you and the hill and then work out the losses. 73. Callum.

Syd, WTLV, asked if there is some way to make a Paddle Keyer flip the sides with Dits and Dahs so that the left side would instead do Dahs. The answer to this question might take a little bit more than usual and involve a slight history lesson.

ARRL Field Day is a cherished event for many amateur radio operators. It’s an opportunity to gather with friends, test radio equipment, and experience contesting. It’s the annual ARRL Open house, and "it combines public service, emergency preparedness, community outreach, and technical skills all in a single event. Field Day has been an annual event since 1933, and remains the most popular event in ham radio."
Join us as we talk about how YOU can prepare for ARRL Field Day in this episode of the All Portable Discussion Zone “AP/DZ”. Every aspect of Portable Ops is explored in this biweekly live stream as we discuss news, gear, achievements, the workbench, contests, awards and more – find all Portable Ops related topics here.

It’s been just over a year since I’ve moved to the Southern Idaho Command and during that past year, I’ve done almost all of my ham radio HF operations from a wire antenna and my IC-7300. I have a full contest radio system from Elecraft. One full year later Studio B as I like to call it is built, equipped and operational. This video is how I built it.

Due to some inquiry by Eric, KB0YDN, I decided to make this video discussing the incident of the Ham Firefighting Interference in Idaho Last year. This video is to address the issue and remind fellow Ham’s about the rules and laws partaining to emergency contacts through Ham Radio, and Public Safety in general.
