A friend of mine located a data center that was swapping out some of their used batteries. He was about to get a huge pallet of them for FREE! He brought them home, and virtually gave them away to people who had been wanting to set up a solar system at home. He charged $5 each for the gas and effort. It turns out two of the batteries didn’t have much life left in them and failed after a few months.
I disconnected them and waited for the cost of LiFePo batteries to come down. They are fairly affordable now and so I purchased one to replace the four I had. This LiFePo4 battery is used by several of my friends and they say it works great!
