I had the pleasure of going on a camping trip with Vern KV5SIX & Ranae KR5SIX over the weekend and I got to borrow this tiny little teardrop from Ranae. She had this at Huntsville Hamfest and I thought it was the coolest thing since sliced bread. Being that I was "camping" in my car the last two years, this little trailer looked like a nice upgrade. On Thursday we headed out to LA. Vern & Ranae in their nice, big trailer, and me in what I’m officially calling the worlds’ smallest teardrop.

I Tried the New Baofeng UV-7B So You Don’t Have To… and WOW!
The Baofeng UV-7B just showed up — and on the surface it looks like “yet another HT”… but once I started digging into it, things got interesting.
✅ FCC ID… but NOT the way you think
✅ GPS logo… but does it actually *have* GPS?
✅ A manual that *might* make programming even harder
✅ Harmonics testing that does NOT look clean
✅ Power output that… well… you’ll see.
In this video I unbox it, attempt to program a repeater **by following the manual exactly**, test RF purity with the TinySA Ultra, and check real-world wattage with the stock antenna.
Is the UV-7B a sleeper upgrade? A rebadged cash-grab? Or something in between?
