9 Day SOTA/POTA Rove – Day 3
Day 3 of a 9 day POTA/SOTA rove in the Smoky Mountains and Blue Ridge Parkway. On day 3 I activate Clingmans Dome (POTA & SOTA), visit Mingus Mill, stop by the Nantahala Outdoor Center, activate Fontana Dam and Nantahala National Forest and end the day with a SOTA summit, Barnett Knob.

To start a contact, the best way is to call "CQ". A CQ is a general call to get a random contact.
Before calling CQ, listen to find a clear frequency. If the frequency seems clear, ask if the frequency is in use. If nobody replies, you’re clear to call. Keep your CQ very short. If no one answers, call again. If you call CQ three or four times and don’t get a response, try another frequency.
